The New York Farm Bureau Foundation for Agricultural Education and the Promotion and Education Committee’s Empire Farm Days plans for the 2005 event have promise to be exciting and energized. The "Farm Bureau Family Center", will focus on a full menu of agricultural education for one and all, plus a place to relax. We have continued to update the exhibits and approach in order to provide an interesting place to stop and refuel. After checking out the “deals” all over the grounds, we give visitors plenty to “check out” in the Farm Bureau Exhibition!

We will sport a “new look” this year, as we reconfigure our tent to provide easier access to the variety of items we showcase…plus our NY juice and popcorn!

The tent will include:

• A special auction to assist the New York Farm Bureau Foundation in their efforts to fund education projects that touch every part of New York and all who live there. This auction will happen every day at 1 pm and last about 30 minutes.
• The 2005 winning entries for the “Be Aware of NY Ag” contest will be displayed…for this year’s premier!
• Test your agricultural knowledge on the “’Wheel of Agriculture”. The questions have been changed and some special prizes will be available!
• Test yourself in our “Match the Farm Equipment” Game and see if you can ID the plant by looking at the seed.
• Through pictures and their story, meet some of the families featured on our Foundation CD History of NY Agriculture – Diversity and Change….that will be distributed to +7,500 7th grade history teachers…FREE!
• Take home some ideas for agricultural education from the Foundation success story history. Everything from Adopt-a-Calf to the Little Red Barn Library Collection to …a NY Ag Activity Book that was distributed to +250,000 fifth graders and +70,000 fair goers for the 2005 season.
• For children, young and old, the “grain” boxes with a variety of farm implements, plus educational materials.
• Popcorn and juice - refreshments that are part of our diverse list of agricultural products.
• Plus learn more about the many roles of New York Farm Bureau...and the difference they make for all who eat!

There will be much more, such as Scholarship Winners, YFR Champions and programs, to mention but a few. We will have an area for relaxation, and the varied exhibits provide a wonderful backdrop to learn while you relax.
