NYS DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION Center #105
DEC Pesticide Specialists will be on hand to answer questions and explain about this year’s CleanSweep Event. Any Empire Farm Days attendee who operates or lives on a farm in New York State will have an opportunity this fall to legally dispose of unusable, unwanted and/or unregistered pesticides at no cost.
From November 6 through November 11, 2005, CleanSweep events will take place in Monroe, Livingston, Yates, Seneca, Ontario and Wayne counties. While farm owners are not required to live in one of these counties, they must be within New York State.
CleanSweep is sponsored by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and assisted by NYS Agriculture and Markets, Cornell Cooperative Extension, and Soil and Water Conservation Districts.
Application packets must be completed and returned prior to the event. Applicants will be assigned a time and location to drop off the unwanted pesticides for disposal. Shipping papers will also be provided to allow delivery. Application packets and brochures will be available at the Pesticide Trailer at the DEC tent. DEC pesticide specialists will be available to answer questions related to this year's CleanSweep event and future opportunities. Additional information about the program is available by contacting the CleanSweep toll-free number at 1-877-SWEEPNY.
