Marketing/ Buying Commodities Seminar:

“Marketing (Buying) 2005 – 2006 Commodities” is a seminar presented by the New York Corn Growers Association. This short seminar will educate producers about market opportunities available to them. Jonah Bowles III, Agricultural Risk Management Coordinator for the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation, will talk about what the market likes to pay and when it likes to pay. He will emphasize the importance of being aware of the markets and influences that determine local prices to producers. Bowles will point out the long before harvest be aware of the prices available and be in position to take them. He will talk about using the market to purchase commodities in addition to selling commodities.

Crop Producers are invited and encouraged to attend this informational session 9:30 am and again at 2:30 pm on Tuesday and Wednesday in the Special Events Center #600 at EFD. For more information contact Steven Van Voorhis, president NY Corn Growers 585-746-1542.

AG Leaders to meet at EFD

Every year American Agriculturist hosts a luncheon for the leaders in NY Agriculture at this Empire State Council of Agricultural Organization Luncheon. This is also the time when the Environmental Stewardship Award, sponsored by American Agriculturist, NYS Department of Ag & Markets and the Empire State Potato Growers Inc.

ESPG Scholarship Winner Recognized

The Empire State Potato Growers Inc. will recognize their fourth annual scholarship winner at the CAO luncheon on Wednesday of the show.

NY cornell Safe Farmer Award:

Cornell Agricultural Health & Safety Program is sponsoring an award recognizing safe farm operators in NY.
